In operation since 1995, the Barrie Film Festival is a non profit organization that has year round programming. The following are projects of the Barrie Film Festival: The popular Screen One Film Series takes place the first Wednesday of the month. From January through to December the most current, unique and memorable films from Canada and around the world are shown at Bayfield 7 Cinemas located at 320 Bayfield Street, Barrie. There are three screenings times: 4pm, 7pm, 9pm, depending on the length of film. The Reel Stories mini-film festival runs the first weekend in February at the Imperial Theatre, located at 55 Dunlop Street, West, Barrie. This event focuses on documentaries and fact-based films and is a featured event during the City of Barrie's Winterfest. During the summer months, from June through to August is the Outdoor Film Series which screens movies on a 25 foot inflatable screen at the waterfront. In October is the 10-day annual film festival which features over 22 films from Canada and around the world. This includes the Short Film Competition, Director's Brunch, Filmmakers' workshop, guest Q&As, parties and the ever growing Educational program. The festival takes place at various venues.
