Barrie Folk Society
Since 1999, The Barrie Folk Society (BFS) has formed a community supporting artistic talent, style and creative vision. We are committed to bringing folk music to Barrie. We select programming that emphasizes local talent along with Canadian musicians across the country. We encourage diversity and education by presenting a broad range of folk styles. Our mandate is also to encourage, nurture and promote young musicians. Activities include:
- Monthly open stage at the Barrie Public Library
- House concerts
- Larger concerts in Barrie area venues
- Lawn Chair Luminata featuring local musicians
- Youth Songwriting Competition
- Music in the Schools
